Overview
Hasan, also called Harun, son of Sulayman, held the junior title of Bughra Khan and ruled the western Karakhanid lands. In 992 he became the first Karakhanid to enter Bukhara, the Samanid capital. His sons founded the Hasanid line, the rivals of the Alids for the next half-century.
Rise to Power
He inherited his father Sulayman's western lands. In 991, invited by discontented Samanid vassals and an ambitious governor of Khorasan, he invaded the Samanid realm.
Rule and Achievements
- In 991 defeated a Samanid army and took Isfijab
- The Samanid governor of Samarkand, Fa'iq, went over to him
- In the late spring of 992 entered Bukhara as the emir Nuh II fled, and struck coins with his own titles
Legacy
He fell ill in Bukhara and died in August 992 on the road back to the east, and Nuh II returned to his capital. His sons Yusuf Qadir Khan, Muhammad Toghan Khan and Ali Tegin carried the Hasanid claim.
