Overview
El Kulug Shad was a chief of the Nushibi wing of the western Türks who was raised as qaghan in 639, while the Dulu wing backed Yukuk Shad.
Rise to Power
He was chosen by the Nushibi tribes after Ishbara Tolis was driven out.
Rule and Achievements
The record of his reign is thin; the Tang histories give little more than his title and dates.
Legacy
He was followed in the Nushibi wing by Irbis Ishbara Yabgu Qaghan. Some sources list him as an ancestor of Irbis Seguy.
