Overview

Renmei, of the Yaglaqar clan, is the first ruler of the Ganzhou Uyghurs whose name and title the Chinese histories record. The Khitan sources call him Ormuzd (Wumuzhu) Qaghan.

Rise to Power

When and how he came to power is not recorded. Earlier Ganzhou rulers, from about 894, are known only from scattered mentions.

Rule and Achievements

  • Sent an embassy of 66 people with horses to the Later Tang in 924 as acting qaghan
  • Was invested by Emperor Zhuangzong of Later Tang as Yingyi Qaghan

Legacy

He died in 924, and his younger brother Diyin succeeded him. Lists of the Ganzhou rulers disagree on names and dates; the order here follows the Five Dynasties and Song histories as summarised in modern reference works.
