Overview
Bürentogtokh covers about 3,760 km², most of it pasture. Its centre, Bayan, lies on the Delgermörön river, 51 km west of Mörön. The soum has six bags: Bayankhoshuu, Burenkhaan, Erchim, Ikh-Uul, Sangiin Dalai and Tuyaa, and borders Sangiin Dalai Lake.
About 20 km west of Mörön are the Uushigiin Övör deer stones, dated to about 1200–600 BCE and part of the UNESCO World Heritage property "Deer Stone Monuments and Related Bronze Age Sites" since 2023.
A few kilometres south of the soum centre are the remains of a fort of Marshal Chingünjav. A palace and stele from the time of Möngke Khan were found in 1953 on the border with Arbulag soum.
